Accessibility to Health Centres
Women's Hope International has been working with Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) in Afghanistan since 2014. PUI and WHI carried out a qualitative and quantitative study to identify obstacles that hinder or block access to health care for women in three districts of Kunar Province, in northern Afghanistan.
Project preparations in the province of Kunar
PUI has been active as a health service provider in the province of Kunar for many years and is responsible for the operation of 45 health centres. There is a great need for health services for mothers and children in the area. However, only a small number of women receive the necessary services as there are still many obstacles (cultural, geographical barriers, etc.) that make it impossible for them to access the health centres. It was therefore necessary to identify these obstacles with the help of a study in order to overcome and eliminate them.
